In St. Kitts-Nevis, we paused on August 1, 2020 to remember the many persons who died and those who survived the MV Christena Disaster. On Saturday 1 August, 1970, more than 300 persons boarded the MV Christena in St. Kitts with the intention of journeying to Nevis. The boat went down in the waters between the two islands, in an area known as Nags Head and less than 100 persons survived. The boat’s capacity was 150 persons. That event was nothing short of a tragedy.
